Minnehaha

The vision was to create a sophisticated yet intuitive automation system befitting this elegant Cape Cod home. Working once again with a returning client, the challenge was to seamlessly integrate extensive technology across multiple living spaces, five bedrooms, a dedicated cinema and an adjoining one-bedroom apartment, while maintaining the home’s refined aesthetic and ensuring effortless everyday operation.

A comprehensive Crestron automation system provides intuitive control of 11 video and 14 audio zones throughout the property. All equipment is centrally located in a purpose-built plant room, keeping technology discreet and preserving the home’s elegant interiors.

Lutron lighting control extends throughout the home and outdoor spaces, with thoughtfully positioned motion sensors automatically illuminating hallways, stairways and bathrooms for safe and convenient navigation at night.

The dedicated cinema delivers an exceptional viewing experience, featuring JBL M2 reference monitors, JBL Synthesis surround and height speakers, Crown amplification and Sony projection onto a 170-inch ultrawide screen. A constant-height viewing experience is maintained through motorised side masking, which automatically adjusts the screen’s width to perfectly match the aspect ratio of the content. Following extensive performance testing, the cinema received official JBL Synthesis certification, becoming one of only three certified cinemas in New Zealand.

Despite the scale and complexity of the technology behind the scenes, the result is a beautifully integrated home where simplicity and ease of use remain at the forefront.
