THE BRIEF
Avid Automation was engaged by the crew of Polar Star to modernise the yacht’s existing Lutron lighting control system, upgrading from the legacy Lutron Interactive platform to the newer Lutron QS system.
THE RESULT
Following extensive pre-planning, the existing lighting system was reprogrammed for the Lutron QS platform, retaining the functionality of the original installation while taking advantage of newer, more reliable technology.
With the preparation and programming completed in New Zealand, Avid travelled to Fiji to carry out the onboard upgrade. The new processors were installed, the system migrated and fully commissioned, with careful coordination to minimise downtime and disruption to the yacht’s operations.
The result is a modernised lighting control system that builds on the yacht’s existing infrastructure, extending its service life and providing a reliable platform for ongoing operation.
Avid continues to provide remote support to Polar Star, wherever her travels take her around the world.
