Culture Kings

Music is a huge part of the Culture Kings brand and retail experience. For their flagship Auckland store, the brief was to deliver a powerful, high-energy sound system with excellent coverage and plenty of volume. The challenge was to create that impact within the store while keeping sound levels under control for neighbouring retailers and the cinema directly above.

Carefully selected JBL loudspeakers were positioned using acoustic modelling to deliver consistent, high-impact sound throughout the store, with controlled coverage to minimise unwanted sound spill into surrounding spaces.

A SoundEar noise monitoring system continuously measures ambient sound levels, automatically lowering the DJ volume when a set threshold is reached and restoring it once levels drop. Unlike traditional compression or limiting, this maintains the quality and dynamics of the music while keeping noise levels under control.

JBL loudspeakers, Crown amplification and BSS audio processing provide the performance and reliability needed for a demanding retail environment.

The result is a powerful, precisely controlled sound system that delivers the signature Culture Kings atmosphere while respecting the neighbouring spaces.
