Lido Cinema

Auckland’s historic Lido Cinema has been welcoming moviegoers since the 1920s and is well known for its boutique cinema experience. The brief was to modernise the sound systems in both the main cinema and the more intimate Lounge, delivering a significant improvement in audio quality while retaining the character and charm that makes the Lido such a unique venue.

Working alongside JPRO, we specified, supplied and installed premium JBL cinema sound systems across both theatres, bringing a new level of clarity, detail and impact to the moviegoing experience.

In the Lounge cinema, a JBL 7.1 surround sound system featuring JBL 7 Series reference monitors was selected for its exceptional sound quality and controlled coverage. Paired with Crown amplification and dedicated subwoofers, the system delivers clear dialogue, powerful bass and an engaging surround sound experience.

The result is a substantial upgrade to the Lido’s audio performance, bringing modern cinema sound technology to both theatres while preserving the intimate atmosphere of one of Auckland’s most iconic independent cinemas.
